I've been painting and drawing since my youth. This led to my training as a teacher of arts and crafts. During this training, I began designing sets for theater, film, and television. For 21 years, I ran my own company with a workshop where these sets were not only designed but also built.
In 2000, I began teaching visual and technical design at a secondary school in the Netherlands. In 2014, I emigrated to Switzerland and have lived in Rapperswil-Jona ever since, where I taught until two years ago. During these years, I have continued to work on abstract paintings.
Since my retirement in 2023, I've finally had the time to dedicate myself fully to painting and travel through Europe in my camper van. One of these trips took me to the Royal Alcázar in Seville, where I was deeply impressed by the beauty of the ceramic wall decorations. The geometric patterns fascinated me so much that I began to study how to draw them using a compass and ruler.
Over the past two years, I have created ten paintings with Islamic geometric patterns.
